Ian Kirkpatrick, in a recently published article for The Conversation argues that NHS managers need a public image makeover.  The media and politicians are both critical of the number of managers employed within the service, suggesting that fewer managers and more nurses are what is needed.

However, research by the team at Warwick Business School has found that this view needs amending as rather than being a burden on the NHS, more managers will actually increase performance.
