Using Data to Improve Nurse Retention

In 2016 Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) had a high number of nurse vacancies due to nurses leaving the Trust.  With a national shortage of nurses limiting recruitment opportunities, the Trust realised they needed to focus their efforts on retaining  existing staff.  This paper summarises how BHT improved nurse retention and, as a result, reduced recruitment and funding of temporary and agency staff.
