The Government has just released a new consultation White Paper which aims to tackle online harms such as terrorism and child sexual exploitation through the use of statutory powers overseen by a new independent regulator.

The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) consider this to be a sensible and pragmatic approach to increasing public concern about the power and behaviour of tech businesses, and they reflect on how incorporating behavioural science insights into the design of regulations can support both users and tech organisations to make their platforms as safe as possible.
