Fixed term 3 year appointment

NHS Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group is offering an exciting opportunity for a secondary care doctor to be part of the Governing Body of a commissioning organisation in a unique setting.

The Isle of Wight is a single health and care system made up of 16 practices, an integrated NHS provider and a unitary authority. The CCG is enthusiastically embracing the opportunities to develop integrated care in this setting, and is a Vanguard site.

We are looking for someone who is able to support and challenge us in our journey to reform the delivery of health and social care on the island and bring an understanding of patient care in the secondary care setting to the CCG Governing Body.

The individual may be recently retired but will need to demonstrate a current understanding of care in the secondary setting. Please note that this role cannot be undertaken by an employee of any organisation with whom the CCG has a contract.

The role requires a commitment of up to 4 sessions per month. There is a requirement to travel to meetings and expenses will be reimbursed.

Closing Date: Monday 12th June 2017.

Interviews will be held at the Isle of Wight CCG on Thursday 22 June 2017.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity please contact Michele Legg, Chair or Helen Shields, Chief Officer on 01983 552430.

The Isle of Wight is a beautiful place to live with excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Most of the Island is semi-rural with miles of unspoilt bridleways coursing through National Trust woods and over chalk downs. Spectacular cliff and coastal walks can be enjoyed all around the Island.

House prices compare favourably to the mainland and southern England with a wide choice of desirable property to suit all tastes. In addition, there are excellent public and private schools, and shopping and leisure facilities on the Island have improved enormously in recent years.

There are multiple frequent ferry links to the mainland and London can be reached in 90 minutes by rail from Southampton or Portsmouth. There is a regional airport at Southampton, just 30 minutes away, with flights to many European destinations as well as UK mainland cities.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a Work Permit)

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

Applicants must have current UK professional registration. For further information please see applying from overseas.
