First it was hashtags – now Amber Rudd gives us Brits knowledge on national ID cards

Rebecca Hill, in an article for The Register, reports that Amber Rudd, (former UK Home Secretary), appears to be in favour of a state-controlled information system based on NHS numbers.   Rudd suggests we already provide a vast amount of personal data to private organisations through agreeing to the use of cookie policies on websites which allow businesses to track our every move, so why not  provide similar information to the government?
