Join us for a PowerHour with Dr Melanie Stephens, Associate Professor in Adult Nursing at the University of Salford as she advises on the Long-term impact of an Interprofessional Education initiative within GM Care Home settings. Interprofessional education (IPE) is a process that that brings together learners from different disciplines to learn from, with and about each other.

 

Come and learn about a model for improving collaborative working, communication and an integrated person-centred approach across learners and health and social care disciplines, along with innovative approaches to professional development – all crucial aspects for delivering high quality care and developing high performing teams!

 

In this session you will learn:

 

– about an IPE placement model for health and social care disciplines

 

– how this can be leveraged for high performing teams

 

– why its important to have an innovative approach that diversifies current supervision of learners

 

– how this helps improve service user experience and continuous staff development

 

– what research says about why its effective & how to utilise in your own organisation

 

 

Dr Melanie Stephens is an Associate Professor in Adult Nursing at the University of Salford, England. Prior to joining the University 22 years ago, Melanie worked across many interprofessional teams in the fields of Diabetes, Burns and Plastic Surgery, ICU and Tissue Viability. After joining the university Melanie became lead and then Head of Interprofessional Education in the School of Health and Society leading the development of innovative interprofessional and international education and placement opportunities for undergraduate students. Melanie is now a health and social care researcher, who still contributes to the under and postgraduate programmes. She has conducted studies within the specialities of social care, interprofessional education (IPE), tissue viability, frugal innovation, virtual wound care clinics and pressure ulcer prevention and management.
