Does psychological wellbeing have an impact on productivity and performance?
Psychological wellbeing is about individuals feeling well, being able to concentrate, and being able to engage in activities that enhance their wellbeing.

Psychological wellbeing means different things to each of us. The consequences, however, are the same.  If we feel psychologically well, we are more likely to have:

  • clarity of mind,
  • be able to concentrate and focus, and
  • be able to carry out routine tasks as effectively as possible.

Feeling psychologically well, also, largely eliminates the disabling effects of stress, anxiety and depression.

Psychological wellbeing doesn’t of itself necessarily have an impact on productivity and performance in the workplace. Other factors come into play, such as nurturing self-esteem, self-efficacy and motivation.

But psychological wellbeing is the starting point, and provides the launching pad from which high levels of productivity and performance are achievable.

The better the organisation facilitates the triggers for psychological wellbeing, the more individuals will reciprocate by performing at their best.
